Cycle Challenge FAQs
Entering Cycle Challenge
Entries will open in January 2017. You will be able to enter at www.mtbsenekalcycle.co.za.
All payments can be done via EFT or direct deposit.
No, you do not have to qualify to take part, but we do suggest that you participate in other races throughout the year. This will ensure that you are fit for the Cycle Challenge Sunday and Monday and will prepare you for other events.
Yes, you can enter! You can enter at www.mtbsenekalcycle.co.za.
Twelve years old. If anyone younger would like to enter, we require a letter of consent from the parent or guardian.
Any traditional bicycle or tandem bicycle that is not motorized.
No, there is no licence required to enter the event.
You will receive an e-mail acknowledging your entry. Number Collection will take place on the day of registration. Please note that we will announce the venue for registration at a later date.
What Happens During
No timing chips (e.g. or Championchip) are required for the event.
There are sweep vehicles on the route. Move off of the course and wait for the sweep vehicle, or flag down an official vehicle to call for the sweep vehicles. At all Hydration Stations there are dedicated sweep pick up areas as well. The sweep vehicles will drop you and your bike at the finish venue.
Yes, this can be done. Each person will have to enter individually.
Wearing of a helmet is COMPULSORY. Cycling gear may be purchased at leading cycling shops. If you wish to dress up, you may do so. Please take your own and other riders’ safety into account when dressing up.

For the 24km, the minimum age is 12 years.
The venue is in Senekal, Eastern Free State, 284 km from Johannesburg.
There will be Hydration Stations every 20km.
Yes, there will be an allocated area for parking at the venue.
The photos will be posted on the Senekal MTB Cycle Challenge website a week after the event. One can order the photographs on the Senekal MTB Cycle Challenge website after the event.
